The lifting of the Twitter ban by the federal government has prompted reactions from Frank Donga and Ebuka.
As previously reported by Naija News, the federal government and Twitter had achieved an agreement, resulting in the suspension of the ban.

Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Chairman Technical Committee Nigeria-Twitter Engagement and Director-General National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), made the president’s instruction public in a statement on Wednesday.

The suspension of Twitter operations in Nigeria will be lifted at 12 a.m. on January 13, 2022, according to the statement.

According to Abdullahi, the clearance came after the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami, wrote a memo to the President.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) authorizes me to tell the public that President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has approved the lifting of Twitter’s suspension in Nigeria, effective from 12am tonight, 13th January 2022,” he added.

The approval came when the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Ali Ibrahim, wrote a memo to the President.

“In the Memo, the Minister provided an update and requested President Obama’s consent for the lifting based on the advice of the Technical Committee Nigeria-Twitter Engagement.”

In response to the incident, Ebuka stated that the prohibition was lifted because to the impending election, while Frank Donga warned Nigerians to be aware of election-related sycophancy-starved tweets.
